When life gives you gadwall ducks, appreciate their finery! I was out practicing flight shots on a local pond, and what I had available were gadwalls. At first, I took them for granted -- dark, relatively uniformly-colored ducks under a grey sky. When the telephoto lens allowed me to 'get close', however, I changed my mind -- as you can see, the subtle details in the breast feathers are quite beautiful up close, and the wing feathers are an elegant study in black and white. And those yellow legs! I include one of the flight shots, just for fun!
